Trivia App gameit Offers Branded Contests on iOS, Android

gameit

Branded trivia app gameit has officially launched out of beta on iOS devices, challenging users to answer trivia questions built around sponsored products. The app incentivizes participation by giving away discounts, or even free products, if users perform well enough in quizzes.

When signing up for gameit, users browse a list of currently available products, from jewelry and fashion accessories to toys and electronics. When users find an item they’d like to win, they watch an informational video or commercial about the product (or gameit in general), which is followed by a series of trivia questions, testing how well they paid attention.

Each multiple-choice quiz question is timed, with users receiving more points for quick and correct answers. At the end of the quiz, users compare their score with others on the contest’s leaderboard, and can answer bonus questions to \"steal\" points and increase their ranking. However, their points can also be stolen, which encourages users to make repeat visits to the app to boost their score back into the winning position.

Each overall contest is open for a limited time, and the user at the top of the leaderboard at the end of the contest wins the item. Other top-scoring users receive discounts for purchasing the item within the app.

In a statement, Bryce Johnson, CEO of gameit, commented on the platform:

[Seventy-two] percent of Americans ignore ads completely, yet companies continue to spend billions on advertising each year to try and reach them. By gamifying mobile advertising, gameit is changing this paradigm. gameit creates a true value exchange between advertisers and their audiences – incentivizing consumers to engage with brands, while driving a higher level of brand knowledge and retention. It’s a win-win for everyone involved.

The gameit app has launched alongside a $1.6 million seed round of funding, which will be used for customer acquisition, research and development, and the continued expansion of the platform’s brand relationships. During gameit’s beta testing period, over 380,000 games were played, and hundreds of prizes were awarded to players.

The gameit app is available to download for free on the iTunes App Store and is coming soon to Google Play.
