Periscope announced this week the launch of its new Android app. The mobile live-streaming app was previously available on iOS only, and now it’s available to anyone with the latest version of Android through the Google Play store.
According to the official blog post, the Periscope Android app has all the features, \"Periscope users have come to love\" with a few Android specific additions.
- Granular notification control
- \"Resume\" notification in case a broadcast is interrupted
- Replay without the broadcaster having to upload a file
Indeed, initially having an Android app seemed like an advantage for Meerkat. Still, Periscope adoption kept ticking up. With the addition of an Adroid app, Periscope might see an influx of more users who have been eagerly anticipating its arrival in the Google Play store.
The Periscope team said in the announcement:
This is just the beginning for Periscope on Android. We have many exciting features and improvements in the works…
Hopefully, the next step is providing analytics to make Periscope a truly useful tool for brands backed by real numbers.
