NBC Brings Saturday Night Live App to iPad, Android

SNL App

After releasing the app on iPhone in February 2015, NBCUniversal Media has released the official Saturday Night Live app on iPad and Android devices. Since its release on iPhone, over 100 million videos have been streamed through the app, with this release coming alongside an overall update to the platform.

Now, SNL app users can stream hundreds of sketches that have never been previously available online. After listening to fan feedback, the app has been updated with segments including characters such as the Gap Girls (Adam Sandler, David Spade and Chris Farley), the Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer (Phil Hartman) and more. In total, the app now offers nearly 5,900 sketches, spanning the show’s history. This update also includes additional complete episodes from the current SNL season.

The SNL app organizes sketches by season and cast member, and by logging in with Facebook, users can share clips with friends. The app becomes smarter with use, recommending new clips based on those users have watched. Finally, users can create a custom playlist of their favorite clips for easier repeat viewing.

On top of this content update, the app now includes an enhanced emoji keyboard, offering 15 new themed emojis. This can be activated under the device’s keyboard settings, and used alongside the standard keyboard while messaging.

The Saturday Night Live app is available to download for free on the iTunes App Store and Google Play. New AirPlay support allows iOS users to stream sketches via Apple TV.
