Instagram released its application for the Apple Watch last week, with a focus on making its content available to users at \"a quick glance.\"
The app allows users to:
- See the latest posts from accounts they follow.
- Swipe up and down to view and like photos.
- See recent comments or likes on their profiles.
- Tap to view profiles.
- Receive \"rich notifications\" when friends, family or favorite accounts post, and like or send quick emoji replies to those posts.
Instagram said in a blog post introducing its Apple Watch app:
The Apple iPhone was the first device that transformed a mobile phone into a powerful camera, allowing people everywhere to capture and share their moments on Instagram. More than 70 million photos and videos are now being shared on Instagram every day by people around the world, capturing anything from sweeping landscapes to the World Cup. In the past few months, we worked closely with Apple to reimagine the Instagram experience for your wrist.
The result is Instagram for Apple Watch, which was designed to make Instagram even more intimate and in the moment. Whether you are out on a morning walk or enjoying a cup of coffee with friends, with a quick glance, you can see the world as it happens and interact with the photos that matter to you. We’ve tailored your feed, activity and notifications for the Watch interface so they feel intuitive and simple to use.
We are excited to be a part of the Apple Watch launch and begin to unlock the creative possibilities of this new platform. We look forward to hearing your early stage feedback. Instagram for Apple Watch is now available on the Apple Watch App Store.
