While it may seem that graduation just passed and summer vacation just started, back-to-school season is already looming. An infographic from BazaarVoice indicates that the early birds have already started their shopping.
Back-to-school shopping spending surpassed $60 billion last year, and shoppers focused primarily on consumer electronics, office supplies, apparel and accessories. Combined, the traffic to these spiked to 10.8 billion page views within BazaarVoice's network.
Early shoppers begin their search and purchases around June 15, while the bulk of shoppers are most active during the six weeks from mid-July to the end of August. However, there is a significant increase in traffic in September and October for consumer-electronics and office-supply products as shoppers return to purchases anything they may have missed in the previous weeks of shopping.
More than 30 percent of the traffic for consumer electronics and office supplies come from mobile devices. Shoppers use their mobile devices to conduct product research, find coupons, compare prices and access reviews. In fact, retailer and brand websites with consumer reviews saw a lift in sales conversions and an increase in revenue per visitor overall.
