Ride-sharing network Lyft tapped former Facebook and WhatsApp executive Brandon McCormick as its vice president of corporate and consumer public relations, Bloomberg reported.
McCormick spent six years with Facebook, most recently serving as director of communications for cross-platform messaging application WhatsApp.
Lyft also named a new VP of brand marketing: former Nike global retail brand director, men’s training Lisel Welden.
McCormick and Welden will report to chief marketing officer Kira Wampler, who discussed Lyft’s friendly image with Bloomberg:
We’re still so early. On the negative side, friendliness has the perception of being a little soft, but the friendliness piece is attached to the ethos of the company.
McCormick added:
I think that being a friendly brand is an asset, so I think it’s something we need to maintain.
