YouTube Adds Two VPs

YT

YouTube has added two new VPs to its executive ranks, reports TechCrunch. The new hires are:

  • Kelly Merryman, who joins as VP of content partnerships. She comes from Netflix, where she was VP of content acquisition, working on such hits as “House of Cards” and “Orange is the New Black.”
  • Eyal Manor, who was previously VP of YouTube Engineering, will now lead efforts “to help creators make and share videos, as well as manage their channels and engage with their fan base,” according to TechCrunch.

YouTube is under pressure to retain talent, so it makes sense to beef up staffing on this front. Other video platforms like Yahoo are trying to woo YouTube stars, so keeping creators happy is a priority for the company. While some creators (notably Michelle Phan, Rosanna Pansino and Bethany Mota) are happy with the support they have gotten, YouTube’s most popular creator has expressed reservations about the platform.
