95% of Pinterest Users Made Online Purchases Recently [Infographic]

Online shopping, especially online holiday shopping is becoming very popular. Pinterest is also one of the powerhouses for online window shopping, driving high value conversions. An infographic from Curalate examines how many people shop on Pinterest, and just how effective an earned media campaign can be.

Curalate gathered data from the Internet Retailer 2014 top 500 guide, a yearly report that aggregates data and ranks the best-performing brands online. Curalate analyzed over 4.86 million interactions on Pinterest between November 1st and November 21st of 2014.

Earned campaigns represented 82 percent of interactions. Owned campaigns only represented 18 percent, so it’s clear Pinterest is a fair market in which to earn your audience. More brands were using pin buttons on product pages (72 percent) as opposed to on their home pages (56 percent).

Targeting Pinterest users with Black Friday or Cyber Monday deals is a smart use of your marketing budget. Ninety-three percent of users had made a purchase online within the last six months. Three-quarters of Pinterest’s traffic is coming from mobile sources; offers and discounts generated from mobile can be very impactful to the shopping experience.
