Twitter: 1 Billion Election-Related Tweets Since Primary Debates in August 2015

On the eve of Election Day, Twitter analyzed the more than 1 billion election-related tweets that have been sent since the primary debates began last August.


Bridget Coyne of Twitter's election team said in a blog post that Hillary Clinton's tweet advising Donald Trump to “Delete your account” was the most retweeted tweet during the time period analyzed by the social network, while Trump's top tweet was his rebuttal.

Coyne also shared data on tweets about the two candidates, as well as a look at the most-tweeted-about issues, which were:



  • Foreign affairs, 50 million

  • Terrorism, 29 million

  • Economy, 25 million

  • Guns, 19 million

  • Cybersecurity, 18 million
