Skype Announces Group Video Calling for Mobile Devices

To celebrate the 10-year anniversary of its video calling feature, Skype has announced the upcoming launch of group video calling on mobile devices. The company also took a look back at the history of its video calling feature, which has been responsible for nearly two trillion minutes of free video calls over the last ten years.

Skype said over 750 million people have downloaded the Skype app on their Windows Phone, Android and iOS devices to date. One-on-one video calling came to Skype on mobile six years ago.

Group video calling is already available for Skype's desktop users. Skype said it has experienced 10x growth in less than two years thanks to features like group video calling, as well as video messaging and more.

Skype's group video calling feature will roll out to users on Android, iPhone, iPad and Windows 10 Mobile in the ‘coming weeks.' Users can pre-register for a ‘sneak peek' of the feature by entering their email address, Skype username, country and device on this website.
