Facebook Releases Mentions for Android

Celebrities, public figures and journalists with Android devices finally have access to the Facebook Mentions application, which debuted for iOS in July 2014.

Software engineers Daniel Lehmann, Jason Prado and Bhavana Radhakrishnan announced the availability of Mentions for Android in a Facebook Media blog post, saying that “a handful of public figures around the world” have been testing the app.

The three Facebook engineers also offered an overview of Mentions’ features:

  • Go live: Give your fans a behind-the-scenes look with live video.
  • Talk with followers: See what people are saying about you and the topics you’re interested in.
  • Stay in the loop: Get posts from the people you follow and see trending stories in one place.
  • Tell your story: Start conversations directly from your phone by posting updates, sharing photos or videos or hosting a live Q&A.

Readers: Are you surprised that it took Facebook so long to prepare a version of Mentions for Android?
