Remember, \"Cross at the green, not in between?\" It’s been updated: \"Heads up! Cross the street, then update Facebook.\"
The city of Hayward, Calif., incorporated the social network into one of its new series of edgy traffic signs, San Francisco CBS affiliate KPIX 5 reported.
Other signs created by Hayward public information officer Frank Holland include:
- 30: It’s a speed limit, not a suggestion.
- Downhill. Use: eyes, brakes, brain.
Holland told KPIX 5:
You have to break through into people’s consciousness, and hopefully break through to people where they go, \"Oh, that’s interesting. Maybe I should listen to that. Maybe I should pay attention.\"
I’m the guy that everybody can point at and say, \"God, those are horrible.\" But you know what? If they say they’re horrible, that’s OK, because they’re still talking about the message and hopefully slowing down.
Karla Tatum, a student at California State University, East Bay, near the Facebook sign, told KPIX 5:
We are all on social networks, so that is something we will all pay attention to.
Readers: What do you think of the new traffic signs in Hayward?
