Facebook quietly added the ability for users to endorse candidates in the 2016 presidential election, as well as issues tabs on those candidates' pages.
The Facebook pages for Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump, Gary Johnson and Jill Stein each contain an endorsements tab, and users who click on those tabs can publicly declare their support via News Feed and perhaps via the candidates' pages, as well.
Facebook offered instructions for endorsing candidates in a post on its Help Center:
- Select the Endorsement tab on the political figure's Facebook page.
- Select Endorse.
- Choose the audience you want to see your endorsement post.
- Write something to go along with your post.
- Select Post.
- Keep in mind that if you choose Public as the audience of your endorsement, it may also appear on the candidate's page if the candidate chooses to feature your endorsement.
Kerry Flynn of Mashable also pointed out that those candidates' pages now have issues tabs, which feature quotes and videos from the candidates addressing certain issues.
