Facebook Messenger users with iPhones or iPads can now share photos or links directly to the application following an update to the iOS app.
Facebook vice president of messaging products David Marcus announced the update in a Facebook post:
For those of you on iOS, here’s a nice update for you. You can now share to Messenger from anywhere on your iPhone and iPad. Make sure you have the latest version of Messenger, and turn on the shortcut to share to Messenger (and potentially move it all the way up :)).
Ubergizmo offered more details on the update to Messenger for iOS:
For those who are frequent users of Facebook Messenger, you will be happy to learn that the app has recently been updated with an action extension, which basically means that you will be able to add Facebook Messenger to the list of apps you want to share data with, as you can see in the image above.
The feature is pretty straightforward, and if you’ve ever used it before, it’s the same. Selecting the app will launch it, and from there, you can choose the contacts that you’d like to share the information with. This will save you some time versus more \"traditional\" methods where you’d have to copy the link first, swap back to the app, paste it and send it.
