Mozilla announced the release of Firefox Focus, a private web browser for iOS devices. The application was designed to block ad trackers and other trackers that “follow” users around the web.
The Firefox Focus browser contains no traditional tabs, menus or pop-ups. Instead, when users open the app, they are presented with a text-entry field where they can type a search term or a web address, and they can browse one web page at a time. When users are done browsing, they can tap the erase button in the top right corner of the screen to erase their browsing session.
If users ever come across a page that doesn't work in Firefox Focus, they can tap a button in the bottom right corner of the screen to load the current site in either Firefox or Safari. In addition, users have the option to stop blocking certain kinds of trackers by changing their privacy settings in the app's settings menu. This menu is accessible from the app's home screen.
Firefox Focus is available to download for free on the iTunes App Store.
