Residential solar panels used to be an option for the rich renewable energy enthusiasts. Until two decades ago, all the solar panels on the market were made by small businesses to be sold to large companies for use in commercial properties. Now that the market has changed, and owners can choose from a variety of manufacturers of residential solar panels, the benefits of using solar energy at home can be seen more clearly. As will be seen, the major, non-ideological very practical advantages.
Credit energy through net metering
Solar panels are off the grid and grid-connected versions. A non-network version would be for use in a remote location, such as a farm, a boat, a car or access to public services. Networking systems to connect directly to the network, routing excess power produced to the public. Under a policy called net metering, the excess can be sold so that customers only pay for their energy “network” – its total energy consumption in the credit they receive from energy production.
Tax credits and other government incentives
Net metering has been a federal requirement for utilities with the approval of the Energy Policy Act of 2005. All services should make an agreement net metering available to customers on request. Another result of the Energy Policy Act was to provide tax credits of up to 30% of homeowners who install solar panels and solar hot water on their roofs (which also attributes the use of other renewable energy solutions, such as turbines of wind). The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 renewed the tax credit programs so that they are available until December 31, 2016.
Panel Price Drops
When solar panel manufacturers entered the consumer market 15 years ago, they were greeted with a huge demand that could ultimately be met by multinational companies such as Siemens and BP units to produce economies of scale. This demand suddenly stopped in the 2008 recession, creating a glut of products on the market, so manufacturers and retailers have had to drastically cut prices to clear excess inventory. Today you can buy a unit that produces 200 watts of $ 500 to $ 800. When shopping for the panels, make sure that the prices are applicable to purchases of units as the volume of purchases. If the price seems incredibly low, the price could apply only to volume orders.
Clean energy
There will be ecological and economic reasons to go solar. A residential solar panel produces clean energy unlike coal or nuclear plants that release carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, mercury and other harmful chemicals in the environment. While production of products that do not create harmful emissions, like any other manufacturing process, once you do, they generate electricity for the rest of his life without any transmission of their own. This is perhaps the most aesthetically and emotionally satisfying aspects of domestic solar panels.
