Facebook Debuts Call-to-Action Buttons for Pages (AllFacebook)
Facebook announced the introduction of call-to-action buttons for pages, saying that the feature will roll out in the U.S. over the next few weeks and worldwide next year, although several page administrators already had access to the feature prior to the social network’s official announcement. The seven calls to action that will be available for pages, as announced in a Facebook for Business post, are: Book Now, Contact Us, Use App, Play Game, Shop Now, Sign Up and Watch Video. Inside Facebook Dollar Shave Club has been using the page call-to-action button in beta. Brian Kim, the company’s director of acquisition, commented on this feature in a blog post: “Over the course of a three-week test, the Sign Up call-to-action button delivered a 2.5x higher conversion rate versus other comparable social placements aimed to drive new user acquisition.” The Wall Street Journal The company says the buttons, which will sit just to the left of the Like button on a page, are built as “new ways for people to interact with businesses.” Needless to say, it’s also a new way for Facebook to track how you and everyone else interact with those businesses. VentureBeat The call-to-action buttons can take users to destinations that are not only on Facebook but also off the social network. As such, the company will have to pay close attention to ensure Page admins don’t abuse them. Marketing Land Facebook said the feature will be rolled out in the United States in the next few weeks, with a global release set for early 2015.
